Policies
Spending Money
Your child may bring money to spend in the Atrium play area on video games and food at PW's Grill. Food cannot be brought back to the LINK classroom. Children will be responsible for keeping their own money. Playworks is not responsible for any lost or stolen money. Your child will be asked to keep prizes from the Playworks Atrium Redemption Counter in their locker. Your child may bring money on field trips to spend on items. Admission costs are paid by Playworks, so money is optional. We recommend no more than $5.00 and that you discuss with your child what your family's rules are in regards to bringing money to spend.
Exclusion From Field Trips
Children may be excluded from field trips if their behavior creates a safety issue. Families will be notified in advance and a conference with the Summer Camp Manager will be set up if their child is going to be excluded from a field trip due to a behavior issue. If a parent request that their child not participate in a field trip, the child will then join another group of children who are staying at Playworks for the day.
Alternative Field Trips The following is a list of activities and field trips that may be substituted for a scheduled field trip that has been cancelled due to weather or other circumstances. Burnsville Bowl, Chuck E Cheese, Lakeville Movie Theater, Skateville or Lakefront Park.
Medication
All medication brought to Playworks needs to be in its original prescription bottle, have a current date, and be accompanied by a completed Medication Permission Form. This form must contain a parent signature. Over the counter, non-prescription medications are not permitted unless prescribed by a physician and accompanied by a physician signed Medication Permission Form. Please note that all medication needs to be turned in to the teachers and stored in a locked medication box.
Bug Spray
If you wish to provide bug spray for your child, label the container with your child's first and last name and give it to your child's teacher to be keep out of the children's reach. A topical permission form must be filled out before teachers can apply bug spray. Playworks teachers will assist the children in applying bug spray.
Sign In & Out
It is necessary for parents to sign in and sign out on the computer with your parent badge every day. Let the teachers know that you have arrived and use this time to inform them of any special instructions concerning your child (i.e., medication, special pick up instructions, etc.). Please be sure to always escort your child up and down the stairs to the LINK classroom. For safety reasons, do not allow your child to run ahead.
Sunscreen Recommendations
Summer Camp teachers will help the children apply sunscreen before leaving on a field trip and again every 2 hours for outdoor trips.
If your child burns easily we recommend that you apply sunscreen at home so that you are sure they have adequate coverage.
Children are required to wear their field trip t-shirt when they are swimming to protect them from overexposure to the sun.
A cap or visor along with a water bottle is also a great way to protect your child from the sun/heat.
